Definition

Many debate what is ethical and not, and this we don’t believe can be easily resolved. However, there are tonnes of projects, product and solutions to be developed and implemented without being even jeopardizing such a dilemma. This is what is happening in the american market, while we in the european seek the answers to all different kind of problems we could come to think about before we start the journey.

If in doubt..

Despite the wide range of possible projects and products it can of course sometimes still be questioned whether the result is ethical acceptable or not. Our experience says that many organizations are cautious enough, but in the case that the values are unclear then we advice to walk away. Even if it can logically argued for, the negative side effect on the longhaul might be so devastating that the AI-journey will stall for years due to the harm done.

Update

Many organizations has not updated their values and ethical views in years. This might be a need to address to be able to succeed with any emerging technology. It is often seen in the light of old views, to judge whether ok or not. It might be more appropriate to update and inform customers, partners and employees what Data Driven Organizations can achieve, but also how it is done. Transparency around this can very well be the key to success, instead of stopping interesting innovations or business developments based on “We don’t do it that way here”.
